Project Information

The new Mesa College Social and Behavioral Sciences Building is a three-story, cast-in-place concrete building that includes classrooms, laboratories, special recording studios, faculty offices and student/faculty lounges and support spaces. The 73,000 SF building will be clad with a metal skin and curtain wall system which features the use of a variety of colors of glass to reflect the diversity and interconnectedness of the social and behavioral sciences. The building features a passive ventilation system which ties a series of power-operated windows on two sides of each classroom with an overall weather-monitoring system. At pre-set temperatures, windows will automatically open to provide cross-ventilation and HVAC systems will be automatically shut down. The system is linked to the campus-wide energy management system which will allow for remote operation of the passive ventilation system. The project was completed in early 2015.
