UCSD SCHOOL OF GLOBAL POLICY & STRATEGY CELEBRATES GRAND RE-OPENING

10.2016

gps_logoThe UC San Diego School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS) rebranded itself on a large scale with a new name, greater ambitions, and a state-of-the-art renovation.  A year after its rebranding from IR/PS to GPS, the School of Global Policy & Strategy celebrated the return of students and faculty from summer break with a grand re-opening of its updated facilities.

The renovations included a beautification of the GPS auditorium and complete overhaul of Building 3.  The transformation of Building 3 included the creation of a new classroom, enhanced “break-out” spaces and student and faculty offices.  It also incorporated full remodel of the existing classrooms, lobby space, and student lounge.  In addition to a comfortable setting, the new lobby offers students and faculty the opportunity for social gathering and group or personal study.  Enhanced material selection, a strong creative vision, and high-tech features reinvigorate the GPS campus for all users and fortify the school’s reputation as a forward-thinking institution.

JWDA team members include Joseph O. Wong, FAIA, Matthew Geaman, AIA, LEED AP, Rodrigo Muñiz, Assoc. AIA, LEED GA, and Catherine Arreaza, Assoc. AIA. Thank you to UCSD and all design team members for successful completion of the GPS Renovation.
