St. Teresa of Calcutta Villa was named Project of the Year for New Construction by the San Diego Housing Federation at its 32nd annual Ruby Awards.  The Ruby Awards is San Diego’s largest affordable housing community recognition event that honors people and projects that operate and expand supply of affording housing across San Diego County.  This urban infill, transit-oriented, LEED Gold targeted project was co-developed by Father Joe’s Villages and Chelsea Investment Corporation in collaboration with JWDA Architects.

The 14-story, 300-000-square foot tower is the largest supportive housing facility in San Diego to date, and will provide a safe and secure home to individuals and families who are transitioning out of homelessness.   All of the 407 apartments are affordable, with 80 of the 407 units reserved for veterans.  Unit sizes include studios at 350-square-feet, 1-bedrooms at 570-square-feet and 2-bedrooms at 830-square-feet; each equipped with full kitchens and bathrooms.  On-site supportive services include access to a health clinic, job training, child care and other programs to help people become self-sufficient.
