SAN DIEGO COMMUNITY CELEBRATES BREAKING GROUND ON BROADSTONE AT MAKERS QUARTER IN EAST VILLAGE
04.2016
Construction began Monday April 11th on the new “Innovation District” of Makers Quarter in downtown San Diego. Many years in the making, Makers Quarter is a mixed-use site with the intent to invigorate downtown’s East Village neighborhood by providing 175,000-square-feet of retail space and restaurants, one million-square-feet of office space, 800 residential units and 60,000-square-feet of open public space, parks and public art. The objective for the space: “to become a hub for local entrepreneurs, artists and residents, and a gathering ground for community events.”
Broadstone at Makers Quarter is a mixed-use, 269-unit, seven-story residence that makes up the first project of the first phase of construction for the Makers Quarter District. City leaders, designers, engineers, development and construction team members celebrated the ground breaking event at 16th Avenue and Broadway in East Village. Alliance Realty Partners retained JWDA for full architectural services on the project.
“Great things are happening in San Diego and people from across the country are recognizing that,” said Mayor Faulconer (at the ground breaking). “2016 is shaping up to be one of our best years yet with the development of Broadstone Makers Quarter excitingly underway.”
