Boutique Hotel Wins Int’l Design Award - San Diego Business Journal
The Monsaraz, a Tapestry Collection by Hilton, is a boutique hotel in San Diego, CA’s Point Loma Coastal District. Designed in homage to the local coastal culture and inspired by the Portuguese town of Monsaraz, the project’s design merges with the historic fishing community to provide visitors an authentically local and hospitable stay, and residents a sense place and pride.
Sited adjacent to America’s Cup Harbor and steps from Fisherman’s Wharf, the design of the three-story, 50,000 SF, 92-key Monsaraz is a contemporary tip of the hat to the history-rich community. Upscale yet comfortable, the spaces feature finishes, color selections, and artwork inspired by the quintessential Portuguese fishing village including a modern take on Azulejo hand-painted ceramic tiles paired with patterned concrete tiles applied to the project’s exterior and interior.
Guest amenities include a fitness room, sundry shop and sky terrace. Street level highlights include a double-height lobby with shared access to a full-service restaurant and bar that opens to a 4,000 SF courtyard. Parking is accommodated by car lift in a single level below-grade, optimizing the user experience and hotel operations while maximizing development of the site.
