Newly completed 800 Broadway Achieves LEED® Gold Certification

800 Broadway, a mixed-use, multifamily development in downtown San Diego, CA, has achieved LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), demonstrating a significant commitment to sustainable design and construction practices.

Fully utilizing its nearly half acre site, the 360,000 SF project is comprised of a 40-story tower with a 6-story podium and three levels of subterranean parking. Credits earned toward certification include the utilization of a previously developed urban site on transit lines, ample open space and views from all units for residents, reflective roofing for heat reduction, exterior light pollution reducing fixtures, water conservation, energy conservation including efficient building insulation and energy-efficient glass, indoor air and lighting quality, thermal comfort, acoustic performance, the use of recycled materials, and clean building practices.

800 Broadway includes 389 residential units ranging from studios to 3-bedroom apartments, with 33 units designated as affordable housing. Building amenities include double-height retail spaces and a grand residential lobby at ground level; an expansive outdoor terrace coupled with a fitness room, a yoga studio, a speakeasy with open seating and a private dining area at level 6; and a sky terrace equipped with a large pool and spa area, lounge, game room, and reading area on level 40.

JWDA provided full architectural services on 800 Broadway with a team led by Matthew Geaman AIA, David Priest AIA, Daniel Geiger AIA, and Per Erickson.

LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system globally, established by the USGBC to recognize buildings that prioritize sustainability in design, construction, and operations.
