New Micro-housing Development 1st & Beech Breaks Ground in San Diego


1st and Beech, a new 20-story micro-unit tower has broken ground in San Diego, CA’s Little Italy. Located in a highly connected area of the bustling community, the project is bookended by Bankers Hill and Downtown San Diego, providing near effortless access to the many neighboring businesses and urban amenities, and boasting a near-perfect Walk Score® with easy access to public transportation.


Highly visible from Interstate 5, 1st and Beech is comprised of 220 apartments, including seven designated affordable. Units average 556 SF, with a mix of studios, one, and two-bedroom apartments. Residential units offer a modern, efficient, and cost-effective design with floor-to-ceiling windows providing plentiful daylight and picturesque views of downtown and San Diego Bay.


Shared amenities include a fitness studio, pet spa, and bicycle parking. An expansive roof terrace caps the tower, complete with an interior sky lounge which connects to an outdoor pool, spa, fire pit, and kitchen/dining areas.


1st and Beech is anticipated to achieve LEED Gold certification due to its energy efficiency and sustainability features. JWDA is providing full architectural services on the project, developed by Greystar.
