A topping off ceremony at Harrington Heights Affordable Housing took place this past Friday, marking the completion of major structural components of this new and essential resource for low-income and vulnerable residents. Located at 1335 Broadway in downtown San Diego’s East Village, the 15-story residential tower will provide 273 studio, one, and two-bedroom apartments, with 270 units designated as affordable housing and nearly 50% set aside for permanent supportive housing.
The project will serve a mix of residents with diverse needs including unhoused veterans, families and individuals, and families with members who have intellectual or developmental disabilities and provide office and administrative space for the Alpha Project for The Homeless.
Mayor Todd Gloria spoke at the ceremony, along with Chelsea Investment Corporation's Chief Development OfficerJim Anderson, Alpha Project CEO Bob McElroy, President & CEO of the San Diego Housing Commission Lisa Jones, 78th District Assemblymember Chris Ward, and District 3 Councilmember Stephen Whitburn.
Resident amenities include outdoor common areas on multiple levels, shared laundry rooms, multipurpose rooms, community rooms, and on-site supportive services directed by the Alpha Project. The ground floor contains nearly 10,000-SF of commercial space, offices, and resident’s lobby and leasing office.
