North Embarcadero Celebration To Mark Phase 1 Completion

11.2014

NEVP_rendering_06The San Diego community was invited to celebrate the opening of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan Phase 1 on Saturday November 15, 2014.  The free family event hosted an array of entertainment including musicians, street performers, and food trucks.  The 105-foot wide esplanade includes formal gardens, landscaped plazas, shade pavilions and a 30-foot-wide waterfront promenade, allowing users to walk, jog, cycle, relax and attend public events.  JWDA provided full architectural services for the North and South pavilions and additional structures in collaboration with renowned artist, Pae White.  The design combines functionality and creative vision, featuring shaded aluminum- and stainless steel-clad pavilions with cutout letters and words that adorn the façade as well as glass-enclosed buildings that symbolize dawn and dusk. Completion of the $31.1 million Phase 1 of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan marks an exciting future, filled with opportunity and continued development, for downtown San Diego.
