APWA’s Public Works Project of the Year Awards was established to promote excellence in public works projects by recognizing successful alliances between the managing agency, the consultant/architect/engineering team and contractors.

The awards committee was particularly impressed by how the project team overcame challenges during construction. Due to delays in other projects at the base, some of the existing facilities on site could not be vacated as originally planned but had to remain until construction was well under way.

Joseph Wong Design Associates teamed with RJC Architects and Hensel Phelps Soltek to complete the award-winning $131 million, 483,573 square foot project in January 2012.
