JWDA Sponsors ‘Future Magazine’ POLIS Competition

Jury PanelThe first POLIS Future Architectural Design Competition, exclusively sponsored by JWDA, co-hosted by JWDA and Future Architects Association, sought talented students to submit fresh, creative designs regarding the future of architecture in the urban environment.  The winners were selected on October 20, 2014 by a panel of esteemed judges including Cul Kai, Vice President of China Architecture Design and Research Group of Beijing; Francisco Mangado, PhD Professor in Architecture from the Navarra University and Visiting Professor at Harvard University and Cornell University; Simone De Gradi, Director of Studio Fuksas in China; Ren Lizhi, Deputy President of Tongji Architectural Design (Group) Co., Ltd.; Li Xiangning, Professor of the College  of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University; Ma Yansong, Founder and Principal of MAD Architects; Gerardo Mingo, Chairman of Future Group; and JWDA’s very own Founder and President, Joseph Wong, FAIA.  The theme of the competition was “A Functional Space for the Aged,” asking students to submit a proposal in which design can improve the quality of life of the elderly through the use of technology, materials, programmatic considerations, aesthetics, and spatial organizations.
