A_web_02_1733x1095px_w1JWDA recently joined Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation in celebrating the groundbreaking for the Atmosphere Affordable and Supportive Housing development, located in the heart of downtown San Diego.  With financing secured and generous community support for this $79 million project, construction on Atmostphere began on March 24.

Atmosphere is a 205-unit, 12-story apartment complex, providing individuals with a safe place to call home, coupled with onsite and offsite services that promote well-being and self-sufficiency.  Fifty-one of the homes at Atmosphere are designated as permanent supportive housing for San Diegans with special needs.  Common spaces include a community meeting room, computer room and several multi-purpose rooms.  Outdoor passive and recreational spaces are included at ground level as well as a community roof garden on the 8th level.  The project is designed and developed to achieve a LEED Certification of Silver or better with construction expected to be complete in February 2017.
