Joseph Wong, FAIA is honored with the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award by UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design

UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design selected Joseph Wong, FAIA as recipient of the 2023 Distinguished Alumni Award.   Joe (BA Class of 1972; Master of Architecture 1974) joins a group of exceptional alumni for his extraordinary work as architect and civic leader.  See CED news for more info on the acknowledgment.

President of JWDA Architects, Joseph Wong founded his architecture firm at the age of 26 in San Diego.  This year, JWDA celebrates 46 years of successful practice.

Joe and his team have completed many distinguished civic and large-scale mixed-use projects locally and throughout Asia.  Joe is particularly proud that the firm has provided architectural services to the community, specifically for local nonprofit organizations including the San Diego Chinese Historical Society and Museum; Father Joe’s Villages; Ronald McDonald House Charities; The Alpha Project for the Homeless; and the La Jolla Music Society.

Joe previously served on the Board of Directors for the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) and the San Diego Redevelopment Agency. He currently serves as a m ember of the Dean’s Advisory Council at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design and on the Advisory Board of the UC San Diego Real Estate and Development program.
