Father Joe’s 14th & Commercial Breaks Ground

01.2020

Formerly known as 14th & Commercial, St. Teresa of Calcutta Villa was named to honor the late Mother Teresa.  The proposed $145 million permanent housing development is part of Father Joe’s Villages’ (FJV) larger plan to bring 2,000 affordable housing units to San Diego.  Funding for this project came from multiple sources including private and public institutions, community groups and philanthropists.  A heartfelt thank you for your investment as this project will surely save lives.

This 15-story and 7-story mixed-use tower is comprised of 407 units, ground-level tenant and supporting services and new FJV office headquarters. Tower amenities include multipurpose space, offices, employment education services, courtyard space, lounge, entry lobby, community room, shared laundry rooms, dining area, and roof/garden terraces.  270 of the 407 units are reserved for chronically homeless individuals while the remaining units will go to formerly homeless veterans, families, and other individuals.   These safe and secure homes are coupled with on-site and off-site services that promote well-being and self-sufficiency.  JWDA is providing full architectural services on the project.

Expected completion: winter 2020.
