Design Approval for Monsaraz Inn, A Hilton Tapestry Collection

The City of San Diego and Planning Commission recently approved the design for Monsaraz Inn, A Tapestry Collection by Hilton located at Garrison St and Rosecrans in Point Loma. JWDA is providing full architectural services on the project.
The nearly 50,000-SF Monsaraz Inn is comprised of 92 guestrooms with amenities including a grand lobby, lounge, sundry, tapas & bar area, fitness room, outdoor garden & deck, office/administrative space and back-of-house facilities.
The design of the exterior is contemporary, yet understated, balancing linear geometries and angled planes with a gently-curved corner entryway. A series of metal panels and glazing systems articulate the corner entryway while the use of a large glass door with a central pivoting hinge encourages visual connectivity and transparency between the exterior and interior space. Large-scale wood louvers adorn the storefront, providing shading and architectural interest to the floor-to-ceiling glazing.
