Design Approval for Father Joe’s Villages Affordable Housing High-Rise

11.2017

RSSH2017-06-07-pn-ysh-c0114th & Commercial is a 448-unit affordable housing development that was approved by the City of San Diego in early November.  The proposed permanent housing structure is part of Father Joe’s larger plan to bring 2,000 affordable housing units to San Diego.  JWDA was retained by Chelsea Investment Corporation in collaboration with Father Joe’s Villages for the project.

This 16-story residential development includes 270 units that are reserved for chronically homeless individuals, while the remaining units will go to formerly homeless veterans, families, and other individuals.   These safe, secure homes are coupled with on-site and off-site services that promote well-being and self-sufficiency.  Amenities include multipurpose space, offices, employment education services, courtyard space, lounge, entry lobby, community room, shared laundry rooms, dining area, and roof/garden terraces.  The project is expected to break ground in early 2019.
