Construction Starts on $110 million Encinitas Beach Resort

First envisioned in 1989, the construction of the Encinitas Beach Resort is finally underway this new year. JWDA was retained by JMI Realty and Fenway Capital Advisors for full architectural services on the project. The Resort will be managed by Two Roads Hospitality and carry the brand of the Alila Hotel and Resorts, based in Singapore.
The 130-key resort is located at the intersection of North Coast Highway and La Costa Avenue. Considered high-class luxury while at the same time low-key and comfortable – or “barefoot luxury” – the hotel is designed with the environment and local context in mind. The project is scheduled to open in 2021.
…In designing the hotel, Rick Rounds, Associate Principal of JWDA, “said the objective was to create an artistic distinctive luxury coastal resort in a stunning setting that offers comfortable elegance and a unique sense of place.” With Joseph Wong, President and Founder of JWDA, adding that “the hotel is meant to feel like a living room for the north coast and the city.”
Amenities include a 1,000-SF bicycle and beach café, 4,500-SF spa, a fitness center for guests, a 4,105-SF main restaurant and lounge, a 1,410-SF restaurant terrace, a 1,925-SF outdoor bar, 11,060-SF of meeting space, and three wedding venues.
