Upcoming JWDA projects in East Village featured in San Diego Business Journal

In recent years, East Village has transformed into a major residential mixed-use hub for downtown San Diego.  With development and leasing basically unhindered during the pandemic, approximately 2,100 to 2,200 apartments are anticipated to come online in the next year.  Several notable JWDA projects – 800 Broadway, St. Teresa of Calcutta Villa and 13th & F – make up 883 of these 2,200 units, with each project offering a strong architectural statement and diverse representation of urban living.

800 Broadway – is a 40-story concrete tower comprised of a 6-story podium with 3 levels of below grade parking.  This 527,529-GSF development offers 389 units with 15% designated as affordable housing ranging from studio to 3-bedroom units.  The podium includes 4 stories of parking over a double-height ground-level retail space and residential lobby.  Level 6 caps the podium and includes the main leasing lounge and offices, fitness room, yoga studio, speakeasy and private dining space adjacent to large outdoor terrace.  Level 40 of the tower includes outdoor pool and spa adjacent to open sky deck, and indoor sky lounge, game room, reading area, and private office/meeting spaces.  Developed by CA Ventures with completion slated for 2023.

St. Teresa of Calcutta Villa – is a 14- and 7-story apartment tower comprised of 407 units with 100% designated as affordable housing ranging from studios to 2-bedroom units.  This nearly 300,000-SF development houses various commercial spaces, including Father Joe’s Villages main headquarters, and residential amenities including recreation and community rooms, fitness room, large multipurpose space, offices for management and tenant services and large open courtyard with a garden and play area.  Developed by Father Joe’s Villages in partnership with Chelsea Investment Corporation with completion slated for 2022.

Framework (Formerly known as 13th & F) – is an 8-story hybrid construction with 5 stories of wood-frame over 3 stories of concrete comprised of 87 micro-units.  This nearly 55,000-GSF market-rate development includes over 3200-SF of commercial space, and separate residential amenities consisting of a residential lobby, leasing office, co-work, lounge, fitness room and sky lounge.  Developed by Carleton Management with completion slated for 2022.
