May 2009 JWDA to Provide Design for the New Hilton Carlsbad Beach Resort & Spa Carlsbad, California -- JWDA has been retained by WaveCrest Resorts for the architecture and site design for the new Hilton Carlsbad Beach Resort & Spa. Located in western Carlsbad, the hotel will offer a number of amenities available to the public including oceanfront meeting rooms, a large ballroom, a restaurant and café in addition to a spa with luxury amenities and services. The main hotel building will be composed of several volumes ranging in size from 1 to 3 stories in height, centered around a courtyard offering a swimming pool, pool bar and fire pit. A parking structure will ensure abundant parking for guests and visitors, while the lushly landscaped 8-acre parcel will provide both beauty and serenity in addition to a manicured pedestrian trail along Carlsbad Boulevard. The full-service hotel will provide gracious and quiet accommodations for both business travelers and vacationers. The Design Team for the hotel project includes: Hoffman Planning & Engineering and Spurlock Poirier, Landscape Architects. In early May, the project received unanimous approval from the Carlsbad Planning Commission.
